Thoughts on the Unexpected

in Writing & Beyond

#RTDITCOL wins the 2016 Housatonic Book Award for YA and MG!

Totally unexpected! I am delighted and honored that Romancing the Dark in the City of Light was chosen for the 2016 Housatonic Book Award for Young Adult and Middle-Grade Fiction! Heartfelt thanks to the WCSU MFA in Creative and Professional Writing Program, the MFA Alumni Writer’s Cooperative, and all involved. Congratulations also to the other winners and finalists! I'm looking forward to crashing the residency in Danbury in August 2017 to lead a workshop.

Guest Post at Writer's Digest

Here are some things I've figured out about writing, at Chuck Sambuchino's Guide to Literary Agents blog for his ongoing series of "7 Things I've Learned."

Guest Post at Jennifer Chambliss Bertman's Creative Spaces!

The author of the amazing middle-grade adventure (soon to be a series) BOOK SCAVENGER invited me to post on her blog about writers' creative places. Check out a writing process that is tortured and full of snack breaks, and a "desk" that's a mess.

#MHYALit Guest Post at Teen Librarian Toolbox

School Library Journal's Teen Librarian Toolbox is running a series ALL YEAR on mental health. I'm honored to be posting today on one of my favorite subjects, suicide prevention and mental health in general.
